Abstract: In this talk feedback control of linear systems with dynamic uncertainty will be discussed for plant models whose input-output behaviors are represented by irrational transfer functions. We review basic robust control problem objectives and present the so-called skew Toeplitz approach, for the solution of the mixed sensitivity minimization. We compute the largest singular value, and the corresponding singular vector, of an infinite dimensional Hankel+Toeplitz operator using a finite set of linear equations. The number of equations is n+l where n is the order of the sensitivity weight and l is the number of open right half plane poles of the plant. A Matlab based code will be presented with illustrative examples.

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to give examples of numerical computations of optimal and suboptimal robust controllers on different examples. Applications to infinite dimensional flexible beam models and systems with time delays are considered. We also focus on robust stability and performance problems for data flow control in computer communication networks, and give an application example from aerodynamic flow control: suppression of cavity flow oscillations. Finally, a distributed delay system example is given; it is a nonlinear model for cell dynamics in leukemia.
