Abstract: Various collective behaviors based on self-organization are exhibited in both group-living entities from cells and bacteria to insects and vertebrates, and physical self-driven particles, e.g., in ferromagnetic field. The characteristics of collective behaviors are exhibited by the abundant sophisticated dynamic patterns of the group, like migration (or flocking), swarming, torus, and so on, which can not be achieved by individual members. More specifically, torus means collective motion around a common center. The scenario of collective circular motion discussed in this talk is categorized as a torus behavior in 2D space. The main objective is to investigate engineering approaches for the coordination of an autonomous multi-agent system to form a collective torus pattern as stimulated by the aforementioned references in real biological/physical world.
