Abstract:
In modern polymer processing, advanced control of some new and complex products requires monitoring of aspects relating to the evolution of the product’s properties and its microstructure during the process and knowledge of the microstructure-performance relationships. Ultimately, control must be associated with direct monitoring of microstructure and properties of the products as close as possible. Some examples of processes and products, in which microstructure plays an important role, will be discussed in this seminar, including the polymeric nano-composites, micro injection molding and vibration and laser welding of thermoplastics/composite parts.
