报告摘要:
Big data research has been receiving numerous attentions from industry and academia due to its vast application potential in business, manufacturing, health-care, and government agencies since about ten years ago when Google initiated the MapReduce project. Some new data-intensive and interesting research fields and problems have emerged. As the application area of technology increases, the size of data also increases. Class imbalance problems become the greatest issue in data mining because of the unbounded size and imbalance nature of datasets. An imbalance dataset in which one class having much more samples than other classes are often encountered in real-world classification problems, i.e., fraud detection, hazard event detection, disease diagnosis, face recognition, graph classification, and text classification. Minority data rarely occur but very important and often misclassified by traditional classifiers. This talk will cover the big data concept, fundamental processing methods especially for imbalanced data sets, and some interesting applications.

MengChu Zhou received his B.S. degree in Control Engineering from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Nanjing, China in 1983, M.S. degree in Automatic Control from Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, China in 1986, and Ph. D. degree in Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY in 1990. He joined New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Newark, NJ in 1990, and is now a Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research interests are in Petri nets, Internet of Things, big data, web services, manufacturing, transportation, and energy systems. He has over 640 publications including 12 books, 330+ journal papers (240+ in IEEE Transactions), and 28 book-chapters. He is the founding Editor of IEEE Press Book Series on Systems Science and Engineering. He is a recipient of Humboldt Research Award for US Senior Scientists, Franklin V. Taylor Memorial Award and the Norbert Wiener Award from IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Society. He has been among most highly cited scholars for years and ranked top one in the field of engineering worldwide in 2012 by Web of Science/Thomson Reuters. His Google citation count is well over 24, 000 and H-index is 68. He is a life member of Chinese Association for Science and Technology-USA and served as its President in 1999. He is a Fellow of IEEE, International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) and American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
报告2:Design of Regulatory Traffic-Light Control Systems with Synchronized Timed Petri Nets

报告摘要:
Fixing the phases is one of the common methods to control an urban traffic network. Once a road is filled with a high traffic flow approaching its capacity, the conventional traffic light controller is not able to handle this traffic congestion phenomenon well. In this paper, we propose a novel regulatory traffic light control system to handle such traffic congestion by using synchronized timed Petri nets (STPN s ). Three kinds of intersections in an urban traffic network are defined and employed to demonstrate our new regulatory traffic light control system models. Finally, the liveness and reversibility of the proposed STPN s models are proven by the reachability graph analysis method. To our knowledge, this is the first work that solves a traffic congestion problem with a regulatory traffic light control technique that can well prevent vehicles from entering traffic congestion zones.

Yi-Sheng Huang (M’01-SM’07) received the B.S. degree in Automatic Control Engineering from Feng Chia University, Taiwan, in 1989, the M.S. degree in Electronic Engineering from Chung Yuan Christian University, Taiwan, in 1991, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Taiwan University of Science and Technology (TUST), Taiwan, in 2001.
He was a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic at Chung Cheng Institute of Technology (CCIT), Defense University in Taiwan. He is presently a professor & chairman in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Ilan University in Taiwan. He was a Visiting Professor in theECE Dept., New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, NJ, USA in 2008 and 2014.He has over 100 publications including 50+ journal papers and 60+ conference papers and five book-chapters.He is currently Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transport Systems. He has been serving as a Reviewer for the Automatic, IEEE TSMCA, IEEE TSMCC, IEEE TASE, IEEE TIE, IET Control Theory and Application, IET Intelligent Transport Systems, International Journal of Production Research, The Computer Journal, IJAMT, AJC, JCIE and JISE.

本报告介绍间歇式化工系统的Petri网建模、优化调度和控制方法:首先给出将订单、工艺、生产装置和控制元件一体化地描述为Petri网的自动化建模方法,然后得到利用模型描述约束的加工时间最短优化问题,并利用启发式搜索算法求解最优策略,最后利用模型自动化生成相应的控制代码。

罗继亮,华侨大学教授,信息学院院长助理,2006年获得浙江大学控制科学与工程专业博士学位,2009-10年访学日本千叶大学,2014-15年访学美国新泽西理工学院,在IEEE T AC发表3篇长文,授权2项国家发明专利,入选福建省新世纪优秀人才支持计划和福建省高校杰出青年培育计划, 2011年获得SCI期刊AJC的杰出评审奖, 2012年获得哈佛大学何玉琦教授设立的Ho-Pan-Ching-Yi奖。
